Dr Romil Jain (Pain Medicine Specialist and Clinical Director, Canberra Hospital Pain Management Unit), recently presented the keynote address at the Getting on Top of Pain seminar in Canberra.
Conducted by the RSI and Overuse Injury Association ACT and Pain Support ACT, seminar speakers included well-known health expert, Randolph Sparks, a Clinical Psychologist and who also lectures at ANU. And Claudia Cresswell, Health Literacy Project Officer from Health Care Consumers’ Association ACT, encouraged participants to share tips on gaining the most from Medicare and build excellent health-care teams. Ms Cresswell acknowledged that pain management requires a coordinated approach with GPs playing a pivotal role. She also espoused the merits of GP Management Plans where health consumers can work with their GP to set goals, identify supports and have reviews regularly.
